Ardys A. Casey, 88, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Clairemont Nursing & Rehab, surrounded by her family. Ardys was born in Eau Claire, on August 25, 1923, a daughter of Elmer and Helen (Dalgleish) Buckli. Ardys married Donald Casey in 1943 in Eau Claire. Ardys had worked at U.S. Rubber Company in Eau Claire for several years. After relocating to Minneapolis, she was employed by North Central Airlines, Republic and Northwest from 1964 until her retirement in 1987. Ardys had a personal interest in the University of Minnesota Raptor Center. She supported and participated in the Special Olympics "Buckshot Run" for many years. Ardys was an avid artist. She and her husband volunteered at the Minnesota Arboretum. She loved to travel extensively throughout the world, especially Switzerland, with her beloved husband until his passing in 1998. Ardys is survived by her son, David (Barb Brown) Casey of LaValle, WI; two brothers, Ron (Janet) Buckli of Eau Claire and Warren (Kris) Buckli of Germany; a sister, Ruth Goserud of Stillwater, MN; three grandchildren, Cristina Casey, Cathryn (Jeff) Meindel, and Michael Casey-Colby; four great-grandchildren, Karen (Gordon) Smith, Joyce, Courtney and Kaysi Meindel; two great-great-grandchildren, Rhylee Smith and Josh Withers; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her favorite canine companion, Lilly. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Gordon Buckli, two nieces, Heidi Buckli-Gavinski and Jeannie Buckli-Harmon; and a nephew, Brian Buckli. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire with Pastor Steven Brant officiating. Burial will be at Montana United Methodist Cemetery in the Township of Montana, WI. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the outstanding care given to Ardys at the Clairemont Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Indianhead Special Olympics, 2023 Fairfax St., Eau Claire, WI 54701.
