Obituary

Arland M. Larson, 78, of 1317 Sherwin Avenue, died Thursday, September 26, 1996 at Luther Hospital. He was born in Strum, Wisconsin on July 1, 1918 to Arthur and Mina (Lund) Larson. Arland moved to Eau Claire with his family to Eau Claire in 1923. He married Eleanor M. Larson in Menomonie on June 9, 1946. He retired as superintendent at McDonough Manufacturing in 1983 after forty-three years of service where he was noted for his uncanny ability to understand the intricacies of machinery and dedication to his company. While working Arland continued his education, attending Chippewa Valley Technical College where he later became a member of the Advisory Board for the college machine shop. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Eleanor; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Erma Smith.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 2 P.M. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor James C. Haerter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
