Arlene L. Hamman, 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at her home at Milestone Senior Living in Eau Claire. She was born to Arthur and Minnie (Pundy) McConnell in Baldwin, WI, on December 3, 1925. Arlene graduated with honors from Baldwin High School and went to work at the Bank of Baldwin for 4 years. She married Calvin E. Hamman on May 17, 1947, and moved to Eau Claire. They enjoyed 29 years together before Calvin died on April 11, 1976. Arlene worked at Union National Bank (now known as US Bank) for 30 years. After retirement, she volunteered at Luther Hospital, at the information desk, for the next 10 years. Arlene was a gentle, kind and caring woman who cherished family and always enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends. She enjoyed getting together with her knitting and ceramic groups, having breakfast on Wednesdays with co-workers. She was also a pro at doing crossword puzzles and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed visits from her Boxer granddogs, Triton and Reggie, whom she loved dearly. Arlene was proud of her Norwegian heritage and spent time with relatives while visiting there. Her other travels included Denmark, Germany, Alaska, Hawaii and Colombia. She mostly relished time spent at her cabin, which her husband built, on beautiful Lake Holcombe. Arlene is survived by her son, Rod (Ginny) Hamman of Eau Claire; step-grandsons, Adam (Rachael) Mousel of Chippewa Falls, Matthew Mousel of Eau Claire; step-granddaughter, Kirsten Mousel of Madison, WI; sister, Phyllis Riedler of Maplewood, MN; niece, Kris (Tom) Trembley of Duluth, MN; nephew, John (Liz) Wallin of Dripping Springs, TX; and numerous friends, especially her close friend, Margaret. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Donna (George) Wallin. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Milestone Senior Living. Their care and compassion made her stay there enjoyable.
