Arlys L. Derouin, 78, formerly of 1423 Bend Court, Eau Claire died Friday, October 6, 2006, at Our House Senior Living Memory Care in Eau Claire. She was born in Eau Claire on July 14, 1928, the daughter of Frank and Lula (Brown) McCarthy. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1946.\r\nArlys married Clyde C. Derouin on November 26, 1955, in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was a devoted volunteer at the Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled, and in 1985 Arlys was inducted into the "Hall of Honor" by ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens).\r\nArlys is survived by two daughters, Kathryn (Jeffry) Grosvold of Eau Claire, and Patricia (Edward) Hudella of North Branch, MN; four grandchildren, Sarah Grosvold of Altoona, Andrew (Jennifer) Grosvold of Deerfield, and Anna and Cora Hudella both of North Branch, MN; her great granddaughter, Abigail Grosvold; two sisters, R. Lorraine Archer of Longview, TX and Marilyn Sytsema of Holland, MI; and nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde, in 1992; her son, David; and a sister, Betty Jean Stevens.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Eugene A. Klink officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. There will be a 6:30 p.m. public prayer service Sunday at the funeral home.\r\nHer family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff and friends at Our House and Northwest Wisconsin Hospice Homecare.\r\n
