Arnold Leigh Brownell, 86, formerly of Eau Claire, passed March 30, 2008, of respiratory failure at the Tucson, Arizona Medical Center Hospice. He was attended in his last hours by his three loving daughters, Barbara Brownell of North Hollywood, CA, Sandra Brownell of Atlanta, GA, and Linda Ingebrand of Tucson, AZ, as well as his devoted partner, Elidia "Lilly" Saavedra of Tucson. He is also survived by his son, Arnold Brownell Jr. of Trenton, NJ, his sister, Ida Ludwikoski of Punta Gorda, FL, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren as well as the warm and supportive extended Saavedra family.\r\nArnold, known to his friends as "Arnie" or "A.B.," was born December 11, 1921 in Eau Claire. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war Arnold worked many years for the Davey Tree Expert Company before creating his own Brownell Tree Service. After retiring in 1984, Arnie moved to Tucson where he designed and built his own home.\r\nHe loved to bowl and was a lifelong lover of nature, horses, and country music which he sang, whistled, and played on his harmonica for friends and family. Arnie will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery next to his wife Rosella who predeceased him in 1987.\r\nA graveside ceremony with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #53 will commence at 11:00 am, Monday, April 14, 2008, at Lakeview Cemetery followed by a reception at the First Congregational UCC, 310 Broadway, Eau Claire. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
