ARNOLD "ARNIE" H. MATZ, 83, died Friday, June 27, 1997 at Dove Health Care Center. He was born July 28, 1913 to Henry and Amelia (Hinterberg) Matz in the town of Clear Creek. Arnie married Agnes A. Knuth on October 6, 1938 in Augusta. \r\nHe farmed most of his life near Allen. In addition to farming, he worked in Eau Claire at Bark River Culvert Co., for over 25 years and was shop foreman for many of those years. He retired and moved to Eau Claire in 1980.\r\nSurvivors include a son, William "Bill" (Connie) Matz of Allen; three daughters, Sonja (Roger) Bauer of Foster, Diane Schulz (Roman) Fritz and Debra (Steve) Green both of Eau Claire; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nArnie was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes in 1984; his parents; a grandson, Bob Matz; a sister, Doris VanderWegen and a brother, Albert.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Altoona with Pastor Robert R. Garbisch officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Cleghorn. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
