ARTHUR "ART" W. JOHNSON, 82, of 3512 W. Cameron St., died Sunday, January 28, 2001 at Syverson Lutheran Home. He was born on August 19, 1918 to Arthur H. and Marie E. (Pfaff) Johnson in Eau Claire. He attended school in Eau Claire, graduating from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1935. Art married Fern Myhers on August 30, 1940 in Decorah, IA.\r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. on August 27, 1943 serving in World War II as an airplane mechanic in India, until his honorable discharge on March 19, 1946.\r\nHe retired from Uniroyal in 1981 as a supervisor, after working there for 45 years.\r\nArt was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Eau Claire Toastmasters, V.F.W. Post #305, and A.A.R.P. He enjoyed golfing with the Wednesday golf league, flea markets, auctions, woodworking and making jewelry. \r\nSurvivors include his wife of 61 years, Fern; two sons, Brian (Catherine) Johnson of Fond du Lac, Neil (Beth) Johnson of Eau Claire; two daughters, Joann Lynn Clark of Fresno, CA, and Phyllis (Tommy) Pollard, Memphis, TN; four grandchildren, Nick and Ted Gharrity-Johnson, Eau Claire, Michael Carmack of Fresno, CA, Clayton Pollard of Memphis,TN; three brothers, Raymond (Jean) Johnson and LeRoy (Barbara) Johnson, both of Eau Claire, and Dale (Bonnie) Johnson of Rustin, LA; sister, Lorraine Larson of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Viola Werner.\r\nServices will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor Joel A. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.\r\nFamily requests that memorials be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
