Obituary

Arthur F. McMahon, 87, of Eau Claire, died Monday, September 27, 2010, at his home. He was born in Eau Claire on November 13, 1922, son of Marshall and Mary (Urban) McMahon. He graduated from St. Patrick High School with the class of 1942.\r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Army-Air Corps on October 30, 1942. He served in 8th Air Force, 487th Bomb Group, Squadron 836, stationed in Lavenham, England. Arthur completed 27 missions as a tail gunner on B24's and B17's. He received numerous medals including the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on May 28, 1945, with a certificate of disability.\r\nArthur married Doris H. Blood on May 24, 1947, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eau Claire. \r\nArthur worked 39 years for Uniroyal, first in the curing department and later in inspection, until his retirement in March of 1985.\r\nHe was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.\r\nArthur is survived by his wife, Doris; three children, Sherrill (Anthony Olson) Ferazza of Eagan, MN, Dr. Michael (Peggy) McMahon and Jayne (Mike) Brick both of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, David Ferazza, Molly, Patrick, and Lauren McMahon, and Roxann Schroeder; and a great-granddaughter, Angela Schroeder.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald and Patrick McMahon; and his sister, Kathleen Anderson. \r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Ave. in Eau Claire with Father Eugene A. Klink officiating. Burial will be Thursday at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire with Military Graveside Honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a public Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 28th at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
