Obituary

ARTHUR THOEN, 90, formerly of 818 Water St., died Friday, March 3, 2000 at Dove Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born January 3, 1910 to Andrew and Hannah (Kvernen) Thoen in Norden, Buffalo County, WI.\r\nArthur served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre at Guadalcanal during World War II.\r\nHe married Minnie Edmundson on May 5, 1953 at Grace Lutheran Church. Arthur worked in maintenance at Johnson Printing until his retirement in the early 1970's.\r\nHe was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Minnie; foster daughter, Kathleen Smith of Saginaw, Minnesota; brother, Kenneth (Inga) Thoen of Eau Claire; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Nelson and Theola (Orwin) Sands, both of Eau Claire. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry; and five sisters, Olga Peterson, Selma Gullickson, Ida Krueger, Alice Tifer, and Helen Johnson.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, with Pastor Andrew Boe of Syverson Lutheran Home officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Washington, where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
