Arturo "Nonoy" Martinez Santos, 79, of Eau Claire, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Eau Claire. On July 26,1935, Nonoy was the 8th child born to Teofilo and Cristita Santos in Butuan, Philippines. He attended Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines, where he studied architecture and moved to Minnesota in the 1960s where he studied drafting at Dunwoody Institute. In Minnesota, he lived with his sister, Belen (Ben) and family, which was next door to his sister, Ofelia and her family. In Minnesota, he worked at Honeywell and enjoyed family parties, dinners and driving trips to Chicago, Duluth and Rochester. In the early 1970s, Arturo met John Peterson and moved to San Francisco in 1974, where they enjoyed city life and antiquing. In 2000, they moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to enjoy retirement. Arturo enjoyed traveling to many places in the U.S., the Philippines and Europe, collecting antiques and going to the casino. In addition, he was a talented sketch artist. He will be missed by friends and relatives including many nieces and nephews in Minnesota, Washington, New York, California, Massachusetts, and South Carolina; as well as the Philippines and Canada. He has touched our lives in many ways, creating memories that will last in our hearts. Arturo is survived by John Peterson; siblings, Luzminda (Rolando) Balanon, Ofelia (Ben) Arriola, Valentino (Evelyn) Santos and Rosalina (Lienne) Flores. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Visitacion Plaza, Concordia Rosales, Vicente Santos, Belen Andrada, and Teofilo Santos Junior. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire with Deacon Robert Chittendon officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
