Obituary

Athene D. Dale, 78, of Eau Claire died Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Augusta Nursing Home. She was born August 7, 1925 in Phoenix, AZ, the daughter of Clarence and Lois (Jacobs) Davis. Athene married David E. Dale in 1947 in Alton, IL.\r\nShe graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School in Kansas City, MO and furthered her nursing studies at Kansas University and the University of Washington in Seattle.\r\nAthene was a nursing professor at UW-Eau Claire beginning in1966 and taught there for more than twenty years. She was also a charter member of Sigma Theta Tau.\r\nAthene was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. \r\nSurvivors include three daughters, Catherine (Dean Burk) Goldfarb of Bethlehem, PA, Dolores Dale of Eau Claire and Janice (Jonathan) Breed of Albuquerque, NM and their father, David Dale; a grandson, David (Eleanor) Morel of Phoenix, AZ; great grandson, Race Morel of Phoenix, AZ; brother, James A. (Claudia) Davis of Blue Springs, MO; and a sister, Frances Zimmerman of Lee's Summit, MO. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Billy Davis; and a grandson, Grant Goldfarb. \r\nMemorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2004 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor David J. Irgens officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery at Independence, MO.
