Avis I. Fisher, 84, of Eau Claire, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Dove Healthcare West with her loving family by her side under the care of Mayo Clinic Health System-Home Health and Hospice. Avis was born in Eau Claire, a daughter to Severin and Hilda (Peterson) Gullickson. She lived in Eau Claire her entire life and attended Eau Claire High School. She married the love of her life, Robert Fisher, on August 10, 1946, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Eau Claire. Together they raised 12 children as they owned and operated their dairy farm. Avis and Bob are charter members of St. James the Greater Catholic Church. Avis enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends who were the lucky recipients of her fabulous meals and the most delicious fudge which was a favorite Christmas gift. She loved to dance, travel, fish, and sit on her porch swing appreciating the beauty that surrounded her on the farm - the flowers, birds, wildlife, open sky and the most beautiful sunsets. She enjoyed this time of year and going for car rides to take in the fall colors. What Avis loved and cherished the most, however, was her family and the farm that she and Bob built. It was a gathering place for their large brood and she loved listening to all the laughter and the many conversations going on at once. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's many accomplishments and was always so excited to welcome a new member to the family. Avis was the sweetest, most gentle, kind, loving woman who had a quiet sense of humor and a permanent twinkle in those lovely blue eyes. Words cannot express how deeply loved and sadly missed she will be by everyone whose life she touched. She is survived by her husband Bob; 4 sons, Dave (Debbie) of Eau Claire, Rick (Carol) of Oak Grove, MN, Bob (Sherry) of Maryville, TN, Jeff (Paula) of Janesville; 7 daughters, Jeanne Wiese of Tomah, Sue (Jim) Bridges of Eau Claire, Terese (Brent) Redmond of Marshfield, Ginny (Rod) Hamman of Eau Claire, Denise Black of Eau Claire, Julie (Tom) Norgaard of Eau Claire, Missy (Greg) Follansbee of Eau Claire; 26 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Curtis (Deanna) Gullickson of Aitken, MN; sisters-in-law, Mary Patricia Duerkop of Eau Claire, Kathleen Fisher of Eau Claire, Elaine Heffernan of Eau Claire, Mary Alice Fisher of Appleton and Bernadette Fisher of Clam Lake; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jon Fisher; son-in-law, Pat Black; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Lydia Fisher, sister, LaVonne Willier; and brothers-in-law, Bob Willier, Joe Fisher, Chuck Fisher, Clyde Heffernan, and Deane Duerkop. Mass of Christian Burial for Avis will be at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire, with Father John A. Schultz officiating.
