Avyril "Avey" M. Osterhus, 81, of St. Louis Park, MN, and formerly of Eau Claire, died Sunday, November 22, 2009, in Minneapolis. She was born in Eau Claire on May 11, 1928, the daughter of Vernett and Gladys (Anderson) Peterson. \r\nAvyril married Robert "Bud" S. Osterhus on August 11, 1948, in Eau Claire.\r\nShe graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1946. Avyril then attended University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire graduating in 1967. She continued on with graduate courses there for her Masters in Elementary Education. Avyril taught for twenty years in several Eau Claire elementary schools, retiring from McKinley Elementary in 1988. \r\nAvyril was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she had been a member of the church choir. She was active in the restoration project of the Waldemar Ager Home for the past many years, Sons of Norway Choir, and an active supporter of the Democratic Party.\r\nAvyril is survived by her son, Paul (Cindy) Osterhus of San Francisco, CA; two daughters, Ann (Dennis) Osterhus of Minneapolis, MN, and Jane (Ralph) Saunders of London, UK; her grandson, Hamed Robert (Ashley) Firouzi of Minneapolis, MN; brother Vernett (Kathy) Peterson of Eau Claire; two nephews; one niece; and seven grand nephews and nieces. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and her parents.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with the Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior services Friday, at church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.\r\nMemorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W.
