Babette C. Egdahl, age 79 of Altoona, died peacefully at her home under the care of Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice, on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. She was born in Taylor County, WI on November 2, 1933, to Sidney and Hertha (Schoen) Anderson. Babette was a great friend and confidant to those that were close to her, a selflessly devoted wife to her husband Harry whom she adored endlessly, and had great faith in God and her country. Babette enjoyed traveling with Harry, loved big band music and Frank Sinatra, and loved all animals great and small, but none more than her wonderful cat "Skippy". She was as great a connoisseur of food as she was an equally and admittedly horrible cook, which she served with a side of well earned humor. Babette worked side-by-side with her beloved Harry at his dental practice in Eau Claire for over 30 years and was a member of First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. While Babette never new the joy of having her own children, her closest friend and neighbor of 23 years, Becky (Tom) Navarre, beautifully fulfilled the role of the gracious daughter she would never have, while Becky and Tom's daughter, the delightful Victoria, charmed our Aunt to no end as only a darling grand-daughter could. The family would like to express their gratitude for years unsurpassed friendship, care and devotion shown to our Aunt by her good friends and neighbors Becky (Tom) Navarre and Greg (Chris) Webert; the world would be such a wonderful place if we all could be graced with such friends. The family also wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to Tim Davis of Home Instead for his exceptional work in providing for the care of Babette, and to the many truly wonderful and genuine direct care staff from Home Instead that worked so diligently to make the last years of Babette's life a comfortable and nurturing journey. A heart-felt thank you also goes out to the exceptional care provided by Mayo Home health and hospice. Babette is survived by her niece, Cindy Anderson; nephews, Paul Anderson and Roy Anderson; cousin, David Johnson; step-nephew, Heinz (Bernetta) Mueller step-grandchildren, Scott, David, Bruce, and Julie Egdahl; along with other relatives and friends. Babette was preceded in death by her parents; her wonderful husband and partner, Harry Egdahl; her brothers, John [infant], Paul, Sidney and Herbert Anderson; her close friend and sister-in-law, Renate Anderson; and nephew, John Anderson.. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at First Lutheran Church Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor Michael Rehak will be officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
