Barbara "Bobbi" Joy Christenson, age 91, of Eau Claire, passed away early Saturday morning, December 2, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Bobbi was born February 28, 1932 to Harold and Abigail (Larson) Thompson in Eau Claire. She was raised in Eau Claire and attended Eau Claire schools. Bobbi married Earl (Chris) Christenson on July 22, 1950. They had two children, Steven and Connie. Chris passed away in 2010. After retirement from the Eau Claire school district, Library Division, Bobbi and Chris enjoyed spending time in Birchwood on Birch Lake where they made many friends and memories over the years. Bobbi was a member of the VFW Womens Auxilliary Post 7232. The past 10 years she and her daughter have volunteered weekly at Bob's House for Dogs which was the highlight of her week. Bobbi will be remembered for her love of family and especially her grand babies. She had a purse full of photos she was always willing to share. She had a love for all babies and dogs. In recent years the backyard squirrels have provided much entertainment and were well fed. Bobbi is survived by daughter, Connie (Jeff) Melland; daughter-in-law, Cappy Christenson; granddaughters, Jennifer (Will) Lee, Stephanie (Matt) DesForge, Kristen (Tim) Hartzel and Courtney (Brock) Haines; great-grandchildren, Tyler (Skyler) Lee, Kaitlin (Brandon) Anderson, Gabriella DesForge (Kyle Eisenhuth), Grace DesForge (Nate Hau), Harper Hartzel, Teague Hartzel, McKenzi Olson, Taylor Haines and Lydia Haines; great-great-grandchildren, Sutton, Johnathan and Ryver Lee and Vinny, Georgia and Margot Anderson, and a great-great-granddaughter due in December; sisters, Yvonne Sorenson and Patricia Schlewitz; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Thompson, Nancy Christenson and Gloria Klopp; cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. Bobbi was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Chris; son, Steven; parents; brother, Larry; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger Sorenson, James Schlewitz, John Christenson, Harold and Catherine Christenson, Everett Klopp, Win and Betty Seeley and Eugene and Phyllis Modl; nephews, James Christenson, David Christenson and Dan Schlewitz. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Spirit Lutheran Church, 1310 Main Street in Eau Claire, with Pastor Randy Skow-Anderson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services is serving her family.
