Barbara "Barb" Jean (Skamser) Olson, 85, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2014, at Syverson Lutheran Home. She was born to Jessica V. (Moen) and Arthur A. Skamser on March 31, 1929, in Eau Claire, and was their only child. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1946 and from the Luther Hospital School of Nursing as an R.N. in 1950. She worked at Luther Hospital and the Eau Claire County Hospital. On November 15, 1950, she married David Wesley Olson, and is the last of that generation in our family. Barb was beloved by her many families: her birth family, David's family, and her family at Syverson Lutheran Home where she had lived the past 21 years. She dearly loved her families and her many friends, including 12 members of a birthday club for 70 years. She and David were avid sports fans (the neighbor kids often asked "Mrs. Olson" if David could "come out and play"). She was always a loyal fan and especially a "Packer Backer". She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews: Richard "Ole" Olson, Robert Gunn, Karen (Gunn) Peterson, Patrick Gunn, Judy (Olson) Mosca, James Erickson, Sharon (Erickson) Lambrecht, Jeff Scott Olson, Vicki Olson, Thomas Olson, Jon Olson, and William Olson (her and David's godson). Barb was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who died September 24, 1992. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at the Syverson Home Chapel, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
