Barbara E. Topper, 82, from Mondovi, WI passed away in Mesa, AZ on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Born April 23rd, 1942 in Chippewa falls, WI to Ernest and Elizabeth (Olson) Topper. She graduated from Chippewa High School in 1960 and went on to get her teaching degree in 1964, from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. For the next 45 years she was known as Miss Topper to the 3rd graders of Mondovi Elementary School, Mondovi, WI. In the summer months, she spent time helping on the family farm planting flowers and keeping the farm looking beautiful. She would also travel and visit with family and friends. She was active in her church, Truax UCC being past president of the congregation and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Albertville Homemakers. She was an avid collector of Breyer Horses. She liked the ones that didn't buck and didn't have to be fed. After retirement she became a "snow bird" and drove to Mesa, Arizona for the winter months. She developed a whole new community there, especially being active in Desert Heritage Church, and a member of the Ladies in Red (the Red Hat Society) in Citrus Gardens mobile home park. Barb will surely be missed for her smile, laughter, positive attitude, and by the many birthday cards she would send. She is survived by her sister, Anna (Richard) Suvada, Colfax, WI; brothers, Llewellyn "Pee Wee" Topper, Cohasset, MN, Marvin (Judy) Topper, Mesa, AZ, Ben (Barb) Topper, Chippewa Falls, WI; sister-in-law, Carla Topper, Eau Claire, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends. Along with her enormous Breyer Horse collection. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Maxine (David) Zwiefelhofer; brothers, Wallace, Gordon, Ed and Randy Topper; sister-in-law, Marnene Llewellyn; nephews, Gary, Jeremy and Anthony Topper and nieces, Angie and Lillian Topper. A celebration of life will be held at 11am Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Truax Congregational United Church of Christ, 1008 S. 50th Street, Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Les Munnick and Pastor Sandee Kosmo officiating. Visitations will be held from 4pm - 7pm Monday, June 10, 2024 at WEST CHAPEL- Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, 1405 North Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, WI., and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
