Obituary

BENJAMIN "Ben" W. DOMER, 82, formerly of W2436 Silver Springs Dr, Eau Claire, died Tuesday, August 17, 1999 at Alterra Sterling House in Eau Claire. He was born on August 3, 1917 to Benjamin and Edna (Jeskuske) Domer in Abbotsford. Ben moved with his family to Eau Claire, where he graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1936. He married Winifred Patitz on July 2, 1940 in Chippewa Falls. He was a supervisor in the Inspection Department at Uniroyal Tire Company until his retirement in 1978. \r\nBen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He served many years as a volunteer, active in Flying Eagles Junior Ski Club and the Eau Claire Senior Ski Club. He loved the outdoors, hunting and gardening. Ben had a wonderful garden and enjoyed sharing his harvest with friends, neighbors, and relatives. He prided himself with his beautiful yard. After retirement, Ben enjoyed golfing with his friends at Mill Run. For six years, he was a loving caretaker for his wife, Winnifred, prior to her death in1994.\r\nSurvivors include a son, Larry (Bonnie) Domer of Aurora, Colorado; a daughter, Linda (Peter) Roe of Madison; six grandchildren, Todd Domer, Lynn (Mike) Frye, Grant (Sheri) Roe, Kara, Michelle, and Gregory Roe; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Andrew Frye, Christian Roe and Hillary Zembrycki-Roe; a brother, Arnold (Lois) Domer of Eau Claire; and many close and caring sisters- and brothers-in-law.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred; a daughter, Kari Louise; his parents; and a sister, Ruth Ohl.\r\nThe family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Kincaid and his staff for their years of caring for Ben, and to thank Susan Prince and the staff at Northwest Home Care as well as the entire staff at Woven Hearts (Alterra Sterling House) for their patience, kindness and loving care for Ben the past several years. We are also extremely grateful to Cecelia Buchholz who helped care for both Ben and Winnie the last eight years they lived on Silver Springs Drive.\r\nFuneral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Deanna M. Wildermuth officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
