BENNIE O. JOHNSON, 92, a resident of the M.B. Syverson Lutheran Home died Sunday, November 8, 1998 at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on November 19, 1905 in the town Drammen, Eau Claire County, to Paul and Christina (Christenson) Johnson. Bennie graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1923. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard with the horse calvary near the end of WWI. \r\nBennnie married Mary Kate Dreke on March 11, 1929 in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was employed at Uniroyal for over 45 years until retiring in 1970.\r\nHe was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for over 75 years, where he ushered for many years and was a member of the Grace Badgers Dartball Team. Many people enjoy the beautiful furniture Bennie made throughout his life\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Mary; a son, Roger (Dawn) Johnson of Dresser, Wisc.; a daughter, Arleen ( Aubrey) Olson of Freeport, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Steven (Nancy Jo) Olson, Kris and Karin Olson, Suzanne (John) Marschang, Lee (Nancy) Johnson, Eric Johnson and Kenneth (Robyn) Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruby Johnson of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, LaVonne; six brothers, Elmer, Art, Edward, Waldemar, Larry "Guy", and Harold; and a sister, Amanda Johnson Kleiner.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel with Pastor Howard Fehr officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.\r\n \r\n
