Bernard O. Paulson, 81, of Colfax, died Friday, October 5, 2007, at Luther Hospital. He was born in Orfordville, WI on December 6, 1925, the son of Sigard and Bertha (Peterson) Paulson.\r\nBernard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in New Guinea until the time of his honorable discharge. \r\nHe moved to Eau Claire where he met and later married Ethel M. Noyes in Cleveland, Ohio on November 14, 1946.\r\nHe worked as a paper maker for over forty years at Sterling Pulp&Paper in Eau Claire.\r\nIn his early years, Bernard loved league bowling and the "Peterson Classic". He was an avid dancer and enjoyed old time dancing (polka, waltz, schottische,&too-step). He also loved to play cards his entire life. Boxing and Chicago Cubs baseball were two favorite pastimes. He once saw Gene Tunney and Jack Dempsey fight for the championship. He also watched Joe Torre (now manager of the New York Yankees) catch for the Eau Claire Braves. \r\nSurvivors include his four children, Pastor Chris (Diane) Paulson of Pine Island, MN, Eric (Colleen) of Minneapolis, MN, Teresa (Charles) Strauman of Minnetonka, MN, and Julie Bornfleth of LeMoore, CA; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Marguerite Andrews; two half-sisters, Zona Udahl and Darlene Seefeldt.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ethel in 1992.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Barum Cemetery in the town of Elk Mound, Dunn County. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Tuesday until time of services at the funeral home.\r\n
