Bernice Josephine Anderson, 89, formerly of Somona Parkway, Eau Claire, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at the Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls.\r\nShe was born on April 14, 1913 in Barron County to Helmar and Lena (Andersen) Hanson.\r\nBernice married Lawrence G. Anderson on November 22, 1932 in Barron, Wisconsin. They farmed in rural Sand Creek for a few years until moving to Eau Claire in 1946. Bernice was employed at Gillette Tire Company for seven years, at Samuelson's Department Store for eight years and the Farmer's Store for fourteen years until her retirement. Since 1947 she has been a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, active in circles and ladies aide groups and teaching Sunday school and Bible School.\r\nHer hobbies were gardening, sewing and fishing at their cabin on Prairie Lake. \r\nFor the past five years Bernice has resided at the Rutledge Home.\r\nSurvivors include her daughter, Linda (Alan) Little of Bloomer, WI; two granddaughters, Tamara (Nathan) Normand of Chippewa Falls and Deborah (Bruce) Tegels of New Auburn; six great-grandchildren, Trevor and Natasha Normand of Chippewa Falls, Cole and Logan Butterfield, Eric and Krista Gass all of New Auburn and several nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence in 1997; three brothers, Ingvald, Mervin and Oscar Hanson; and her sister, Lenore Schuman.\r\nBernice cherished her two granddaughters, Tamara and Deborah, and her six precious great grandchildren.\r\nFuneral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington on Thursday. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
