BERNICE H. SOPPELAND, 85, of 916 Bradley Ave., Eau Claire, Wisconsin, died Saturday, February 23, 2002 at Luther Hospital. She was born on January 22, 1917 in Eau Claire to Albert and Helen (Olson) Leinum. Bernice graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1935. She married Willard "Frank" Soppeland on June 19, 1948 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nBernice was employed at Uniroyal for 11 years, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in the Friendship Club and Women's circle.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Frank; her daughter, Debbie (Duaine) Peterson of Madison; three grandchildren, Daniel (Melissa) Burgess of San Antonio, TX, Rebecca Topp of Elroy, WI, and Rachel (Andrew) Pfanku of Merrimac, WI; three step grandchildren, Jamie (Nicole) Peterson, Darrin (Deserae) Peterson, and Chad (Jessica) Peterson; three great-grandchildren; brother, Glen (Ann) Leinum of Eau Claire; sister, Lorraine (Russ) Spooner of Grand Rapids, MI; and an aunt, Evelyn Olson of Eau Claire. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents. \r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday February 26, 2002, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.
