Obituary

Bernice A. Thorson, 83, of Eau Claire died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona. She was born in Chippewa Falls on August 8, 1920, the daughter of Peter and Theresa (Krejci) Tichey. She married Arnold R. Thorson on November 3, 1941 in Cornell.\r\nBernice was a full-time homemaker and worked as a cook at Holiday Inn for fourteen years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd, and its women's circle.\r\nBernice loved to garden, crochet, cross-stitch, cook and bake. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending quality time with her family. As a family they enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping.\r\nSurvivors include her two sons, Richard (Diane) Thorson of Richmond, VA, Rodney (Mary) Thorson of Eau Claire, three daughters, Judith Thorson of Malta, IL, Cheryl Green of Chippewa Falls and Teri Stolp of Altoona; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Elmer Tichey of Chippewa Falls; and nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold in 1997; her sister, Dorothy Dutton; and a brother, Alvin.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2004 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Eau Claire with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
