Bernice I. Yancey, 84, of Eau Claire, died Friday, October 17, 2008, at Angelspace in Eau Claire. She was born on August 5, 1924, a daughter of Clifford and Mary (Lenfesty) McMahan in Clear Creek Township, Wisconsin. Bernice married Harold R. Yancey on December 24, 1924, in Eau Claire. They moved to California in 1943, and to Ladysmith, WI, in 1972. Her husband, Harold died in 1975, and Bernice moved to Eau Claire in 1976.\r\nShe was a bus driver for eight years, and later a newspaper carrier for 23 years until retiring in 1968.\r\nBernice is survived by two daughters, Shaaron (John) Cardoza of Fortuna, CA, and Beverly Belli of Loleta, CA; two grandchildren, Rikky (Audra) Daniels of Loleta, CA, and Darin (Marcy) Trutalli of Winchester, CA; three great-grandchildren, Pyper Daniels, Natalie and James Trutalli; three sisters-in-law, Cathy (Joe) Lee of Everman, TX, Shirley McMahan of Ukiah, CA, and Lillith Yancey of Rangel, AK; nieces and nephews, including her niece Joan (Butch) Smalstig of Eau Claire who was her caregiver for the past three years; and great nieces and great nephews.\r\nShe was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Clifford McMahan; and three sisters, Marjorie Matz, Dorothy Mlenek, and Betty King.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Christ Church Cathedral Episcopal, with The Very Rev'd Robert L. Rademaker officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith.
