Obituary

Bert Johnson, 93, of Eau Claire died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Syverson Lutheran Home. He was born in Eau Claire on May 29, 1911, the son of Oscar and Bessie (Olson) Johnson.\r\nBert married Violet E. Johnson at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on July 11, 1936. \r\nHe enlisted in the Army Air Force near the end of World War II and while there, served in Okinawa as an Aeronautics Mechanic.\r\nHe worked as Equipment manager at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Athletic Department, retiring in 1976. Bert and Vi had great times together with their gentleman's farm on Jeffers Road where they raised a huge garden.\r\nSurvivors include a daughter, Judith (Adam) Cahow of Eau Claire; a grandson, Jim Cahow of Eau Claire; three granddaughters, Kirsten (Marc) Scholtes of Washburn, Beth Ann (Jim) Hess and Susan Larson; a great-grandson, Michael Lemmage; and a sister-in-law, Josephine Johnson, all of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Violet in 1998; and four siblings, Gordon, Hazel, Grace, and Lawrence Johnson.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel with Pastor David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in Lutheran Church Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military rites. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at Church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family.\r\nBert's family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Syverson Lutheran Home and Northwest Wisconsin Homecare&Hospice.\r\n
