Bessie Ruth Foster passed away on October 9, 2016 on what would have been her husband's 100th birthday. Bessie passed away at the Classic on Hillcrest Greens Assisted Living Memory Care facility in Altoona, WI. "Bess" as she liked to be called was born on February 16, 1922, in Marathon County Wisconsin to Fred and Alma (Winkert) Rath. After her father passed away Bess was raised by her Mother Alma and stepfather Elmer Ringle of Edgar, WI. Bess met and married her soul mate, Darwin Foster on February 8, 1945. They were married two days short of sixty years. Bess began working outside the home by taking care of others, first as a nurse's aide at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire and then spent nearly twenty years caring for the developmentally challenged at the Northern Center in Chippewa Falls, WI. Bess loved her family and proved to be an inspiration to all who knew her. Her joys were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bess was an excellent cook and her family specialty was her German Cherry Kuchen. She is survived by two daughters; Connie Rieck, Eau Claire, Diane (Richard) Finch, Chippewa Falls, one son, Gary (Karen) Foster, Eau Claire, one son-in-law, Peter Blomquist, Altoona, eight grandchildren; Tom Finch, Kris (Finch) Berray (Robert), Jason Rieck (Nandi), Janelle Blomquist, Jon Blomquist (Kim), Jeff Blomquist (Jamie), Dan Foster (Elly), Lisa (Foster) Bliss (Don), eleven great-grandchildren, one brother, Robert (Pat) Ringle, Rothschild, WI, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin and daughter Rhonda (Blomquist), her parents and stepfather, two sisters, Frieda (Werner), Delores (Harder), and two brothers, Elmer Ringle, Jr. and Kenneth Ringle. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at The Classic on Hillcrest Greens, Altoona, WI. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date in Prairie View Cemetery in Lake Hallie, WI. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of The Classic at Hillcrest Greens and St. Croix Hospice for their care and all those who showed concern and support.
