Bette Jane (Jennings) Krantz, 87, of Elk Mound, passed away due to natural causes on August 21, 2012, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire, WI. Bette was born on April 19, 1925, to Paul and Myrtle (Larson) Jennings in Alma Center, WI. After graduating from Arcadia High School she married Joe Dale and traveled with him while he was in the armed services. She lived and worked in Victorville, CA, and North Carolina before settling in Alma where she farmed with Joe Dale until his passing in 1957. She continued to farm with her boys Joe, David and Roger until she married Calvin A. Krantz in 1964. Bette and Cal settled in Elk Mound where they continued farming. Bette was an active member of the Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran church, she was also active in the local 4-H while her kids were growing up and she also spent time as an Avon Lady for several years. Bette is survived by her husband Calvin A. Krantz, of Elk Mound; her sons, Joe (Diane) Dale of Alma, David (Kathy) Dale of Tonopah, NV, and Roger (Priscilla) Dale of Sanger, TX , Cal Krantz of Pewaukee; her daughter, Julie Krantz Messersmith, of Aptos, CA; grandchildren, Jill, Jenny (Steve), Michael, Matthew, Casey and Brendan; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Joshua, Eli and Braedon; one sister, Peggy (Everett) Thompson of Richland Center; and two brothers, Jerry Jennings of Eau Claire, and John (Betty) Jennings of Chippewa Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Dorothy and Bernice; and her daughter, Christie Krantz. There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24th, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, West Chapel, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire. Funeral Service for Bette will be held on Saturday, August 25th 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 207 University Street, in Elk Mound with Pastor Michael Wollman officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery rural Elk Mound. Memorials may be directed to Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church. Bette was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she will be sadly missed by her family, friends and relatives.
