Bette Mae Newcomb, 84, of Eau Claire died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at her home. She was born May 14, 1922, in Eau Claire, the daughter of Ryall and Josephine (Greene) Caldwell. \r\nBette married Fredrick "Bill" Bunch on July 19, 1940. They divorced in 1953. She married Granville "Granny" R. Newcomb in Eau Claire, on August 7, 1960.\r\nThroughout her life, Bette was a homemaker taking pride in her clean house and beautiful gardens. Among her favorite activities were camping, observing wildlife, and long drives through the country and local parks. She was an avid traveler throughout the U.S. She enjoyed collecting dolls, a hobby she enjoyed with her friend Shelly Berger. Above all Bette cherished time spent with her many grandchildren. \r\nShe is survived by her three daughters, Nancy (Bernard) Falkner of Eau Claire, Sandy Heineman of Stanley, and Connie (Daniel) Colbert of Woodville; a brother, Ralph Caldwell; and four sisters, Jane Thorn, Janell Capozzi, Rita Hendrickson, and Audrey Pearson, all of Eau Claire; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Shelly Berger of Eau Claire.\r\nBette was preceded in death by her husband, Granville in 1980; her parents; a brother, John Caldwell; three sisters, Cleo Caldwell, Evelyn Brack, and Irene Thorn; and two grandchildren, Mary Falkner and Gary Bullard.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2006, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving her family.\r\nHer family wishes to thank Community Heath Partnership for the support they have shown Bette and her family.\r\n
