Obituary

BETTY GEONORA HANSON, age 98, of 2306 Frank St., Friendship Manor, Eau Claire, and formerly of 3332 LaSalle St. in the town of Seymour, died Thursday, April 2, 1998 at Luther Hospital. \r\nShe was born November 8, 1899, in the town of Seymour, to Esten and Anna (Dragseth) Pedersen. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, and continued to be an active lifetime member. After graduating from Eau Claire Senior H.S., she attended Eau Claire Normal School. Betty taught school in Augusta and at Norseville School in Strum. She married Noble H. Hanson on May 1, 1924, at her family home in the town of Seymour. They farmed in the town of Seymour, and also after Noble's death in 1943, Betty became School Treasurer at Black and McKinley Schools for several years. She was later Seymour Town Treasurer for 26 years.\r\nSurvivors include three sons, Hartwick (Shirley) of Eau Claire, Alden (Beverly)of Golden Valley, MN., and Gordon of Balsam Lake; a daughter, Norma (Dennis) Bohman of Eau Claire; 10 Grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene (Aubrey) Fowler of Neenah;\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Noble; her daughter-in-law, Barbara; six brothers and six sisters.\r\nFuneral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert E. Esse officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.\r\nThe family requests memorials be directed to the First Lutheran Church Pre-School Fund or the donor's choice.
