Obituary

BETTY IONE (TRAASETH) JASPER, 53, of 3448 Delbert Road, was freed from her courageous year long battle with cancer on Friday, March 20, 1998. She was at home surrounded by many people who loved her.\r\nBetty was born December 12, 1944 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Harvey and Elaine (Jacobson) Traaseth. On June 18, 1966 she married John (Jack) Jasper. They journeyed through 31 years of a beautiful life together. Until January, Betty continued working at a job she enjoyed as a supervisor at Mason Shoe Company.\r\nBetty touched the lives of all who knew her with her gentleness, grace, laughter, and caring smile. She embraced many of us by listening with her understanding heart when we needed it most. Even during her valiant struggle with cancer, she found the strength and faith to inspire us to live with hope and optimism. She truly was a gift from God and will now be our guardian angel. We will miss her dearly.\r\nShe is survived by her husband, Jack Jasper; her mother, Elaine Traaseth; three daughters, Lisa (Mark) Mayer, Brenda (Al) DeSouza and Angela (Brady) Shepler; two grandchildren, Daylon John DeSouza and Alexis Elizabeth Mayer all of Eau Claire; four sisters, Pat (John) Naser, Sharon (Dale) Luthy and Donna (Butch) Zielie all of Eau Claire and Sandy (Bob) Teigen of Eleva; two brothers, Ron (Donna) Traaseth of Eleva and Ken (Mary) Traaseth of New Auburn; a special mother-in-law, Lorraine "LaLa" Jasper of Chippewa Falls; and many special friends. \r\nHer spirit will shine on in the lives of her family and friends who will gather to celebrate her life. Jesus, her dad Harvey, and brother Larry welcome her home as we say good-bye. \r\nFuneral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Catholic Church with Father Frank Corradi officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home, and 10:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.\r\nRemember mom..... Families are forever!
