Betty C. Johnson, 94, of Eau Claire, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Oakwood Villa, in Altoona. Betty was born on September 27, 1923, in Mitchell, SD, to Avery and Gwneth (Sales) Howard. She moved to Milwaukee and met the love of her life, Milton Johnson and was married on July 15, 1944. They moved to Oakland, CA, and returned to Eau Claire following World War II. After retirement, Betty and Milton enjoyed wintering in Arizona and Mexico. To her, the world was a hobby… painting, dishtowels, fabric, buttons, glassware, coins, you name it! Betty saw purpose, reason and beauty in it all. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Betty is survived by four children, Brad Johnson, Sheila Wright, Anita Twin, all of Eau Claire, and Ellen (Jerry) Carroll of Cannon Falls, MN; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Leo) Sampson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; daughter, Judy Peterson; granddaughter, Amber Krenz; and brother, Wallace Howard. The family would like to thank Oakwood Villa and St. Joseph's Hospice for their wonderful care. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the WEST CHAPEL of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire, with visitation to follow from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
