Betty R. O'Connor, 73, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, May 4, 1996 at Syverson Lutheran Home. Betty was born February 24, 1923 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Raymond and Anna (Spilker) Meidam. She received a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from Milwaukee Teachers College (UW- Milwaukee). She attended graduate school at the University of Denver, Denver, CO.\r\nOn September 30, 1950 Betty married Eugene M. O'Connor in Appleton. She was a homemaker. She was active in Immaculate Conception's Immaculata Society, Birth Right, Friendly Visitors, Meals on Wheels and the DAR. Betty's hobbies included travel, golf, painting and bridge.\r\nSurvivors include three daughters, Anne E. O'Connor, Clarkston, GA, Katherine C. O'Connor of Eau Claire and Mary F. (James O.) O'Neill, Wausau; two favorite grandchildren, Theresa and Michael O'Neill both of Wausau; a brother, Donald G. Meidam, South Milwaukee; a sister, June (Franklin) Boisclair, Muskego; a very special friend of the family, Pat Peterson, Wausau; nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring friends and neighbors. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene on October 1, 1988.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 1 P.M. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Burial will be in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Monday (Today) at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with a public rosary at 7 P.M.\r\nBetty requested that memorials be sent to Father Klimek's ministry at Sacred Heart Hospital, Salvation Army,Eau Claire and Birthright,Eau Claire.\r\nHer family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who loved and supported them through this time.
