Obituary

Beverly June Ross, age 88, passed away at the Syverson Lutheran Home, September 23, 2015. She was born in Eau Claire on November 11, 1926, to Robert and Rose (Cohen) Levine. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed graduate course work in Psychology. At the University of Wisconsin, she met Kenneth Jacob Ross her future husband playing bridge and continued playing bridge for the rest of her life. After Madison and WW ll they moved back to Eau Claire to work at the family business, The Fashion Store, an exclusive clothing store. Beverly cherished the times going with her mother on buying trips to Chicago and New York. Her parents privately dressed many a gentleman and ladies in Eau Claire and the surrounding area. Beverly continued in the family heritage as a clothier after her husband passed away in 1968. Mother was the mother of all mothers who cared so much for others. Her daughter Roslynne and sons, Jeffry and Ronald were devoted to her. Her gift was smothering her kids with love. She was an angel for those who needed a Mom or advice. From earlier childhood, it was Grand Central Station on Roosevelt Avenue. Everyone reveled in her nurturing and empathy. Beverly was a giver. She gave her heart, sensitivity and wisdom to all who searched comfort. Her favorite pastime was buying people gifts. As an only child her cousins became her brothers and sisters. They spent many years on lakes in Wisconsin including Red Cedar and Minocqua having fun with family. But she never learned how to swim. She was active in the Eau Claire Community and enjoyed Bridge and Mahjong with her friends. The Food Network was her therapy. Lucky, her sons' poodle, gave her so much pleasure. Mom had many close friends especially her oldest and best friend Babette Lasker Rice who was her sister in so many ways. There are many other friends who enjoyed her company and wit. We want to pay thanks to medical professionals and staff at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems and Syverson Nursing Home who took such wonderful care. A special thanks to Dr. Steve Rogers and Dr. Bill Maierhofer, for their incredible attention. We want to express our gratitude to the dear friendships of Barb Stevens, Marge Smelstor and Jan Randal, and special friends Sandy and Jeff. Beverly is survived by her loving children, Ronald of Madison, WI, Roslynne of Annapolis, MD, and Jeffry Ross of Eau Claire, WI; and grandchild, Romy Najm Mittler of Fort Lauderdale, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; and wonderful cousin, Buddie Levine.
