Obituary

After battling many illnesses, Bonita M. Curtis passed away on Wednesday July 17, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire. Bonnie was born on May 13, 1940, to Esther (Gunvalson) and Loyd Bolier in Baldwin WI. She spent her early years in Spring Valley, WI, and moved to the Eau Claire area when she was in Jr. high. She graduated from Eau Claire Memorial in 1959. She remained close to many of her high school friends, and always enjoyed the class reunions and their monthly lunch dates. She married her high school sweetheart Raymond Curtis on June 30, 1962. They had 2 children, Tony and Christine. They later divorced. She joined the work force in 1978 at LE Phillips Memorial Public Library and worked there for 25 years. She loved working there and made many lifelong friends. She retired in 2003. After retirement she enjoyed going out to eat, traveling, bowling with all her bowling buddies, her church groups, going to the casino, and of course going out to eat with her many friends. Did I mention that she like going out to eat? She was hit with so many health issues over the years, and always dealt with the hand that was given her. She was such a strong woman with the most amazing will to live. During her 2 ½ years at dialysis, she met many special people and they shared a special connection. She spent time at Dove South and Dove West over the last 2 years and loved spending time with her "peeps", and enjoyed all the activities. She will be missed by her son, Tony (Nancy) Curtis; daughter, Christine (Christopher) Lawrence; grandkids, Joshua, Kayla, Tyler, Brianna, Brady; and a very special great-grandson, Noah, who will miss his Gee Gee very much. She loved spending time with her grandkids and loved hearing all about their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3715 London Road in Eau Claire, with Rev. Frederick Theiste officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. A special thank you to all her doctors and nurses over the years who treated her with kindness and respect, and took the time to listen to her many stories. Also a special thank you to her care giver, Brenda. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the LE Phillips Memorial Public Library, 400 Eau Claire St., Eau Claire, WI 54701
