Bonnie Marie Hayden, 71, went peacefully to meet Jesus on December 19, 2024, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Bonnie was born in Eau Claire on July 17, 1953, to Herman and Betty (Miles) Hayden. She grew up in Elk Mound, Wisconsin, and attended Elk Mound High School. After graduation, Bonnie joined the Air Force where she became an Air Force Medic. She was stationed at various bases across the country and returned home to raise her children. Bonnie loved to learn. She attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire earning a Bachelors degree in English and Library Science. She always wanted to be a writer. She attended Chippewa Valley Technical College and earned a degree in Medical Record Science. She also earned a degree in Horticultural Science and loved, loved, loved her plants and gardening! In addition to being a Medic in the Air Force, Bonnie held various jobs including Nursing Assistant, a stocker at K-Mart, and was employed at several floral shops. She was an avid reader and usually had several books going at once. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Whitehead-Bickford (Micah Bickford) of Seattle, Washington; and her son, Nathaniel (Mindy) Whitehead of Eau Claire; her sisters, Kathy (Dan) Carey of Eau Claire, and Patricia Hayden of Charlotte, North Carolina; her brother, David (Rhonda) Hayden of Colfax; and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Betty (Miles) Hayden, and her sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Murray Barrett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Friday, April 4, 2025 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire, with Fr. Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Elk Mound. The family wishes to thank Care Partners Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for keeping Bonnie comfortable and cared for.
