Borghild Viola Berg, 87, of Eau Claire died Monday, January 10, 2005, at home. She was born in the town of Chimney Rock, Wisconsin, on January 1, 1918, to Carl and Minnie (Insteness) Sletten. Borghild was baptized and confirmed from Chimney Rock Lutheran Church.\r\nShe moved to Eau Claire in 1936 and graduated from Eau Claire High School with the class of 1937. Borghild married Gordon A. Berg on November 18, 1945, in Chimney Rock. As her health declined over the past years, she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Holly Johnson.\r\nShe has been a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1945.\r\nBorghild is survived by her three children, Jean (George) Gfall of New Richmond, WI, Judy (Tom) Laliberte of Oregon, WI, and Paul (Teresa) Berg of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, George Gfall, Karl Gfall of New Richmond, Adam (Dawn) Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Holly Johnson of Eau Claire, and Cameron Laliberte of Shreveport, LA; two great-grandsons, Joseph and Jacob Johnson, both of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, in 1991; infant son, David; her parents; a brother, Lester Sletten; a sister Ruth Sletten; and sister-in-law, Myrtle Sletten.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery.
