Obituary

CARL A. FAUSETT, 99, passed away Friday, January 14, 2000, at Dove Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born February 10, 1900, at Hazelton, Kansas, the son of Almond and Ora (Lemmon) Fausett.\r\nCarl joined the Army at seventeen and served in the First World War in France, in the battle of Verdon and the Argon Valley. After the war he returned to Kansas, working as a lineman for the telephone company. Here he met Bessie Opal Jones, a long-distance operator, and they were married June 6, 1922 in Kingman, Kansas. They made their home in Winfield, Kansas until they moved to Wisconsin in 1938.\r\nHe spent most of his working years in the automotive parts business, retiring as Sales Manager of White Machine Company, Eau Claire. Following his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, making beautiful frames for his wife and daughter's artwork, as well as for many other artists in the Chippewa area. Carl enjoyed his favorite game of cribbage and excelled in playing until his last year.\r\nHe was an avid Sportsman and loved trout fishing and big game hunting in Montana and Wyoming. Carl helped found the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Sportsmen's Club and was a longtime member of the Trout Unlimited Organization. He loved the Brule River area and owned a summer home there,where his family and friends spent many wonderful visits and canoe trips.\r\nCarl is survived by two sons, Robert (Patricia) Fausett of Horicon and Dale (Donna) Fausett of Page, AZ; a daughter, Arlene "Peg" (Robert) Breitzman of Eau Claire; fifteen grandchildren, Rory Fausett, Teresa (Peter) Parker, Carl (Connie) Fausett, Kimberly (Tim) Golden, Lauri Paul, Jeffery (Grace) Fausett, Gregory (Diane) Lewer, Douglas (Janet) Lewer, Mark (Karen) Lewer, Becky Oatman, Barbara (John) Rewald, Michael, Donald and Robert Breitzman, and Beth (Tim) Candell; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister, Verda Pfaff of Green Valley, AZ; and a sister-in-law, Helen Fausett of Cheyenne, WY.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Opal; his parents; a daughter, Lenora "Lee" Lewer-Berg; five brothers, Glen, Ralph, Raymond, Dale, and Jack; and a sister, Ethel (Lawrence) Lane.\r\nMemorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 4th at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, with Verda Pfaff officiating. VFW Post #305 will conduct military rites following the service at the funeral home. Friends may call an hour prior to services on Friday.\r\nCarl will be missed by his loving family and by many good friends. He will be remembered for his strong dedication to the care and preservation of the environment.
