Obituary

CAROL JEAN SOKOLOWSKI, 46, of 3031 Rosewood Lane, Eau Claire died Friday, October 5, 2001 at Luther Hospital. She was born on May 20, 1955 in Ironwood, MI to Frederick and Marian (Richards) Martell. \r\nCarol graduated from L.L. Wright High School in Ironwood in 1973, and then attended and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN in 1977. She received her internship in Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Carol began her career as a Medical Technologist at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, and later she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls, and for over twenty years at Luther Hospital.\r\nShe married Michael Sokolowski on June 21, 1980 in Ironwood, MI.\r\nCarol was a piano accompanist at Sherman Elementary School and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was Membership Chairperson for Sherman School PTA. and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year. She was also a member of the Medical Technologists Society.\r\nCarol was always a person willing to help someone in need.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Michael; her children, David of Madison, Nathan and Sara, both at home; her mother, Marian Martell of Ironwood, MI; a brother, James (Louise) Martell of Spooner; a sister, Virginia (Mark) Luoma of Park Falls; father- and mother-in-law, John and Vivian Sokolowski of Ironwood; three brothers-in-law, Jerry (Cheryl) Sokolowski of Ironwood, David (Ludy) Sokolowski of North Carolina, and John (Susan) Sokolowski of Oshkosh; three sisters-in-law, Patti (Jim) King and Marie (Brian) Lindquist, both of Ironwood, Joan (Warren) Minnema of Butternut; many nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her father, Fred; and a nephew, Matthew.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2001, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
