CATHERINE E. CHRISTIANSON, 95, formerly of 617 Deyo Ave., Eau Claire, died Thursday, October 25, 2001 at Dove Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation.\r\nShe was born on April 26, 1906 in the Town of Clear Creek, near Brackett, to Peter and Sarah (Barrett) Haas. Catherine graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1924, and attended Eau Claire Normal School.\r\nShe married Melvin C. Christianson in Milwaukee on November 20, 1926.Catherine worked for Sacred Heart Hospital Laundry until retiring in1984.\r\nShe was a member of First Congregational Church. During WWII, Catherine folded bandages for the Red Cross. She was always ready and wanting to help others. At Christmastime, the family always looked forward to her Christmas baking for everyone. Catherine also enjoyed fishing, gardening and handworkcrocheting bedspreads and knitting.\r\nSurvivors include her son, Ronald (Dorothy) Christianson and two daughters, Lois Whitted and Janet (Ben) Gunderson, all of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Susan (Dan) Bjelke of Des Moines, WA, Jeff (Kate) Christianson of Apple Valley, MN, Nancy (Jay) LeaVesseur of Cedar Falls, IA, Janie (Tony) Lahner, Robert (Terri) Gunderson, Jeannie (Peter) Davey, and Lori (Rick) Jungerberg, all of Eau Claire; eleven great-grandchildren, Ben, Tanya, Greg, Bob, Bill, Brittany, Sara, Emily, Maxwell, Carter, and Lauren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband Melvin in 1978; her parents; son-in-law, Byron Whitted; five brothers, Edward, Ray, Lawrence, Walter, and Ralph Haas; four sisters, Mary Chaput, Genevieve Leinenkugel, Sadie Werlein and infant Beatrice\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2001 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, with Rev. Mark Pirazzini officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Congregational United Church of Christ.
