Catherine M. Helberg, 83, of rural Rock Falls died Monday, November 3, 2003 at Clairemont Nursing Home, Eau Claire. She was born on October 27, 1920 in Barrington, Illinois, the daughter of Celsus and Margaret (Slater) Schwartz.\r\nCatherine married Lester Helberg in Elgin, Illinois on May 5, 1938. They operated a horse stable at their farm near Elgin where she was a horse trainer. In 1964 they moved to Rock Creek Township, in Dunn County, Wisconsin where they farmed and raised horses.\r\nShe is survived by her son, Lee Helberg of rural Rock Falls; several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband Lester in 1999; her parents; two sisters, Beverly Lenz and Alberta Helberg; a sister-in-law, Ruth Bognar and two brothers-in-law Albert Helberg Jr. and John Bognar.\r\nPrivate family services will be held. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services assisted the family.
