CATHERINE M. SWANSON, 95, formerly of Grace Edgewood, died Sunday, February 22, 1998 at the M.B. Syverson Home. She was born March 31, 1902 in Chicago,IL to John and Catherine (Crogan) Eckenstein. She graduated with her degree in education from De Paul University in 1937. Catherine married Berger N. Swanson in Chicago. She taught in the Chicago Public Schools until her retirement and then they later moved to Eau Claire in 1981 and joined Immaculate Conception Church.\r\nSurvivors include a son, Robert Swanson of Eau Claire; a daughter, Marian Grady of Wood Dale,IL; a granddaughter, Pat (Robert) McCarron of Downers Grove,IL; a great-granddaughter, Karli McCarron of Downers Grove,IL; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Berger in 1983; three brothers, John, Walter, and Raymond; and a sister, Helen O'Leary.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 10:00 a.m.Thursday at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Orland Hills, IL, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery,Worth, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at Robert Sheehy Funeral Home in Orland Park, IL. Local arrangements were with Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home.
