Cecelia B. "Toni" Derouin, 95, of Eau Claire, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016, at her residence. Toni was born in Westfield, NY, on December 10, 1920, the daughter of Wenzel and Agnes Smetana. Toni moved to Barron, WI in 1925 and graduated from Barron High School with the Class of 1938. She entered nursing school in 1939 and graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in St. Paul, MN in 1942. Toni entered the U.S. Army Nurses Corp and served in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1946. She then moved to Eau Claire and was employed at Sacred Heart Hospital from 1946 to 1978. Toni married Francis Derouin on February 17, 1947, in Chetek, WI. Toni was a charter member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church and belonged to St. James Rosary Confraternity. She was a member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association. Toni enjoyed spending time with her family and spent her summers at her lake home in Chetek. Toni is survived by her son, Jack (Flo) Derouin of Eau Claire, WI; daughter, Jean (John) Marshall of Muskego; five grandchildren, JD (Dawn) Derouin of Rogers, MN, Michelle (Rob) Graham of Richfield, MN, Philip (Samantha) Derouin of Eau Claire, David (Cheryl) Marshall of Wind Lake, WI, and Tracy (Craig Crandall) Marshall of Muskego, WI; nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Hunter and Jessica Derouin of Rogers, MN, Sarah and Carson Marshall of Wind Lake, WI, Tucker, Lillabeth, Valerie, and Natalie Derouin of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Mary Jean (Roger) Risen of Eau Claire, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, Julius Smetana; sister-in-law, Alice Shaw; brothers-in-law, LaVerne and Clyde Derouin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St. in Eau Claire with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 53 at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Boniface Cemetery in Chetek. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
