Obituary

CECIL W. ALBERTSON, 76, of 1622 Ninth St., died Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at his home. He was born on February 13, 1923 in Ashland, Wisconsin to William and Cecelia (Watnam) Albertson. Cecil graduated from Ashland High School. He entered the U.S. Army on May 30, 1943 and served in the South Pacific during World War II with the 535th Quarter Master Division until his honorable discharge on February 4, 1946. Cecil married Helen L. Heckathorn in Richmond, Indiana on September 20, 1946. He was a cabinetmaker with Charleston Manufacturing until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and Carpenters and Millwright Union Local #1074. Cecil enjoyed being with his grandchildren, fishing and playing his guitar.\r\nSurvivors include a son, John of Eau Claire; four daughters, Vicki (Gene) Sandvig of Rochester, WI, Cheryl (Mike) Bean of Menomonie, Diane (Mike) Paulsrud and Linda (Steve Engen) Shay both of Eau Claire, twelve grandchildren, Eric (Melissa) Sandvig of Burke, NY, Andrea Sandvig (Jeff) Fay of Rochester, WI, Sarah Bean (Scott) Schoenberger, of Shoreview, MN, Amy (Cory) Pickerign, Andrew, and Heidi Bean all of Menomonie, Daniel Paulsrud, Nathan, Tessa, and Cory Shay, Christopher and Matthew Albertson all of Eau Claire; two great-grandsons, Anthony Fay of Rochester, WI and Michael Sandvig of Burke, NY; a brother, Victor Albertson of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in 1997; a brother, Alfred; four sisters, May Carlson, Stella Kontony, Vivian McComb and Minerva Fountain.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor Paul D.L. Oppedahl officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\nThe family requests memorials be directed to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or Sacred Heart Behavioral Health Center.
