Obituary

Charles R. "Ray" Anderson, 82, of 4202 Elk Creek Rd, Town of Union, died Saturday, November 2, 2002 at Luther Hospital. He was born in Eau Claire on August 11, 1920 the son of Adolph and Julia (Ray) Anderson. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1938.\r\nCharles married Evelyn Schultz on April 20, 1941 in Eau Claire. He later married Carol Jean Haskins on December 7, 1963 at the Lutheran Church in Prentice, WI. \r\nCharles was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, and especially spending time with his family. Charles was a member of the NRA, West Central Wisconsin Pigeon and Poultry Club, and the Eau Claire Trail Riders Club. He served with the Eau Claire County Sheriffs Department from 1957 to 1966, and also worked for Ed Phillips&Sons, was a bus driver for the Eau Claire Transportation Co., Presto Industries and retired from Menards in 1985. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Carol; two sons, William (Alice) Anderson and Gary (Celia) Anderson and their mother, Evelyn Carlson; three daughters, Sue (Tom) Reese, Cindy Anderson (Steve), and Jan (Craig) Stark; a brother, Ralph (Joan) Anderson; a sister, Jeannett (Orvin) Gruen all of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Mike (Brenda) Anderson of Crookston, MN, Laurie (Rob) Sabelko and Kris (Ted) Simpson both of Eau Claire, Michelle (Tony) Olson of Strum, Josh Anderson, Sarah and Elizabeth Reese all of Eau Claire; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; three aunts, Emma and Clara Anderson and Nan Dion.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday (today) and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.\r\nIn lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
