Charles "Chuck" R. Berg, 78, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, January 6, 2008, surrounded by his family at Sacred Heart Hospital.\r\nHe was born to John M. and Veronica (Kaufman) Berg on September 14, 1929, in Eau Claire. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1947.\r\nChuck began working for American National Bank (now Wells Fargo Bank) after high school. He began his career as a messenger and later progressed to the savings department in 1948. In the late 1960's, he started in the trust department and was promoted to Assistant Vice President&Trust Officer. He retired as a financial planning officer on March 31, 1985, with 37 years of service.\r\nHis interests in life included his flying lessons, beekeeping at the lake, crossword puzzles which he did in ink, and playing cribbage and 500. Above all, his family was his number one priority.\r\nChuck was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister and on numerous committees. He was given the Non Sibi Award from Regis High School in 1994.\r\nChuck was a loyal friend and will be missed by all who knew him.\r\nHe is survived by his brother, Leonard (Margaret) of Eau Claire; two sisters Valeria Tushner, and Audrey (John) Flynn, both of Eau Claire; 10 nephews, David and Daniel Berg, Michael, Jeff, John, Peter, and Paul Tushner, and by Steven, Michael, and Paul Flynn; three nieces, Jackie Halski, Joan Pfeiffer, and Janice Flynn; 14 great nephews and nieces; and two aunts, Loraine Berg, and Cleo Berg.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice; a brother-in-law, James Tushner.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. William A. Dhein and Monsignor Edmund Klimek celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to Mass on Friday at church. There will be a public prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.\r\nSpecial thanks to the staff at the Sacred Heart Cancer Center and Intensive Care Unit for their care and support. Also to the pastoral care department for their words of comfort and support.Memorials are preferred and will be designated in Chuck's name to charities to be chosen by his family.
