Charles (Chuck) David Boetcher, age 80, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire surrounded by his family. He was born on March 6, 1926, in Augusta, Wisconsin to Ira and Elvira (Steinke) Boetcher. He later moved with his family to Eau Claire where he graduated from Eau Claire Senior High in 1944.\r\nCharles served in WWII with the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 as a member of the 96th Infantry Division. \r\nOn June 26, 1949, he married the love of his life Fern Loraine Weeks at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Herbert Juneau officiating. \r\nFrom 1947 until his retirement in 1989, Charles worked as a faithful employee of the Northern States Power Company of Eau Claire. \r\nCharles was a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, an elder, and a member of the finance committee for numerous years. \r\nEach deer hunting season found Charles heading north to hunt whitetails with his buddies and son Steven. He enjoyed being a member of the Senior Center, the Chippewa Valley Museum, and V.F.W. Post #305. He was a volunteer at Luther Hospital, and as a veteran bowler, Charles enjoyed the activities but the camaraderie even more so. \r\nKnown for his smile and his sense of humor, Charles will be dearly missed by his wife, Fern; three children, Kristine (Dayle) Sell of Augusta, Cindy (Bill) Shipman and son, Steven (Dorie) Boetcher both of Eau Claire; and adoring seven grandchildren, Sean (fiancée Kari Krech) Shipman, Lance Shipman, Jordan Sell, Lindsay (fiancé Scott Thalacker) Boetcher, Travis Shipman, Courtney Sell, and Ashley Boetcher; and a brother, Howard (Yvonne) Boetcher of Eau Claire.\r\nCharles was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and twin Robert; father-in-law, Robert Weeks; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Dorothy and Nick Schneider. \r\nFuneral Services for Charles will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, atOur Redeemer Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Joel A. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 601 Fall Street from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006 and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\nDad, we will miss the egg hunts at Easter, you in your Santa hat at Christmas, your chili at the shack, but most of all, we will miss you. \r\n
