CHARLES D. FOGARTY, 90, of 716 ½ Fifth Avenue, died Monday, November 8, 1999 at Luther Hospital. He was born on November 1, 1909 in Ingram, Wisconsin to Martin and Mae (Adams) Fogarty. He graduated from Ladysmith High School and later attended Northland College in Ashland,Wis. Charles married Josephine V. Staponkus at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Waukon, Iowa on May 28, 1935.\r\nCharles lived in Rice Lake where he and Josephine owned Rice Lake Shoe Company. In 1964 they moved to Eau Claire and opened Fogarty's Comfort Shoes. Charles retired in 1983, after 60 years in the shoe business. \r\nHe was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church, a long time associate with the Boy Scouts of America and Trout Unlimited, Eau Claire County Humane Association and a member of George B. Wheeler Lodge #351 F&AM, where he received his 50 year pin in 1992. \r\nHe was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed league bowling for many years. \r\nSurvivors include, a son, Robert (Carol) of Mosinee; two daughters, Randene (John Heiman) Fogarty and Ruth (Ron) Omdalen both of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Corey (Genny) Fogarty of Washington, D.C., Kristi Fogarty of Kaukauna,WI, Kelly Fogarty of Plymouth, MN, and Jeff (Sue) Omdalen of Chippewa Falls; four great grandchildren, Bryan, Patrick, Michael, and Megan; and his very special friend, Edla Roa and her family of Eau Claire;\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josephine, in 1981; stepbrother, Jack Blair; stepsister, Lucille Trudell and a half-brother, Bryce Fogarty.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lake Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Kent P. Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the town of Washington. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church. There will be a 6:30 p.m. masonic service Wednesday at the funeral home.
