Obituary

Charles "Chuck" O. Johnson, 82, of Eau Claire, passed away on November 14, 2011, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire surrounded by his loving family. Chuck was born on November 15, 1928, a son to Ole and Mabel (Thompson) Johnson in Eau Claire. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in January of 1951 and served in the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star. After his honorable discharge in December of 1952, Chuck married Virginia Nowak. He was employed as a Realtor and Home Builder, until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed fishing and karaoke and was an avid sports fan and coach. He loved cooking for holidays and family gatherings. He also enjoyed the time that he spent with his Oakwood Mall Birthday Club. Chuck is survived by Virginia Johnson, his wife of 42 years with whom he shared 6 children, Cathy Ribando, Mary (Bob) Campbell, Eugene (Vicki) Johnson, Carolyn (Kurt) Lofgren, Greg (Lori) Johnson, and Brian (Jamie) Johnson; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Donald (Bernice) Johnson and Jim (Joan) Johnson; sister, Betty (Wayne) Lester; sisters-in-law, Joan Johnson and Liz Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Eugene in infancy, Duke and Norman; and his sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Pete Zank. Funeral Services for Chuck will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2011, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire with Chaplin Nate Oldenkamp officiating. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011, and also one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday. Burial with Military Rites performed by VFW Post #305 will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery, Omaha Street, Eau Claire. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving staff at Dove Healthcare West for treating our Dad with such dignity, and to the staff at Mayo Clinic Health Care Cancer.
