Charles "Charlie" Kurth, 78, of Fairchild, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born April 14, 1937, in Eau Claire, WI, to parents Ralph and Melissa (Clark) Kurth. He married Joanie Pearson at Sacred Heart Church in Eau Claire in September 26, 1959. He entered into the United States Army after graduating Senior High School in 1954. Charlie worked at Darley Pump in Chippewa Falls before working at Uniroyal from 1966 to 1992. After leaving Uniroyal, he received a degree for Computer Aided Design and worked for several manufacturing companies before beginning his wood working business, Creative Tool Paths, from home. Charlie loved spending time with his family outdoors hunting, fishing, and bird watching. He enjoyed being on his farm and working on building his own log home. Charlie was a member of the Osseo Area Historical Society. He is survived by his wife, Joanie; five children, Peter (Kathleen) of Fairchild, Chuck Kurth of Eagen, MN, Mary Kay Kurth, of St. Paul, MN, Jean Kurth, of St. Paul, and Lynda Kurth, of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, Thea Marie, Ashlee, Lyric, Donald, and Dakotah; and two great grandchildren, Lamar and Tegan. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Melissa; brothers, Jim, Bill, and Rex; and sister, Doris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joe's Hospice, 2261 County Highway I, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729 or Regional Cancer Center, 900 W. Clairemont Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the WEST CHAPEL of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services, 1405 N Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54703, with Father George Thayilkuzhihottu officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
