Obituary

Charles Schultz, age 90, of Eau Claire, died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Chuck was born on June 15, 1923, on a farm near Cadott, to Arthur and Lona (Lotz) Schultz. He graduated from Cadott High School in 1941. After high school, he graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a teaching degree, and taught in a one room grade school. He entered the US Army in March of 1943, and proudly served in the 3rd Infantry Division in the European Theatre until 1946. After his Honorable Discharge, he returned to Eau Claire. Chuck, Faith and family enjoyed trips out west and throughout Wisconsin and their yearly family vacation at Lake Amacoy, where he and Faith were lucky to have caught a lot of nice muskies. After retiring, Chuck and Faith enjoyed camping throughout Wisconsin, especially at Chequemagon National Forest. Chuck was a loyal member of the Eau Claire VFW Post #305 and the Eau Claire American Legion Post #53. He was also an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers and the Badgers. Chucks greatest loves were his wife, children, grandchildren, and his church where he was a member for over 47 years. Chuck is survived by his wife of 62 years, Faith; daughters, Diane (Ron Rose) Johnson-Rose, Paula (John) Zettler, and Joyce (Jim) Spaeth; grandchildren, Zach (Julie) Johnson, Meg (Tom O'Brien) Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Adam Rose (Katie Nellessen), Jillian Rose, Nikki (Keith) Dillinger, Callie Dillinger, Tessa (Corey) Fey, Andrew Zettler, Amelia Zettler, Marissa Charley Spaeth, Evan Spaeth, Hillary (Travis Hakes) Spaeth, and Tyson (Ashley) Spaeth; sisters, Eunice Zenner and Gene Martin; and many nieces and nephews. Chuck was looking forward to a great-grandchild in January, to Zach and Julie Johnson. He also treasured his special relationships with Jon (Patti) Hehli, Greg (Patti) Gregerson and Lars (Cara) Gregerson. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Howard, Austin and Jim Schultz; two sisters, Marion Jacobson and Joyce Smith; and beloved son-in-law, Tom Johnson.
